Wrinkles are lines that form when facial muscles contract during facial expressions. With time they can occur even at rest. These include forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, bunny/ nose lines and smokers/perioral lines.

Antiwrinkle injections such as Botox, Bocouture are prescription muscle relaxants used to treat several medical conditions. It contains the active ingredient Botulinum Toxin A which works by partially blocking nerve impulses. When injected into the muscle it prevents excessive contraction of that muscle so reducing the appearances of lines. It can be used to prevent lines developing, deepening or to soften existing lines.

Anti wrinkle injections can also be used to treat downturned corners of the mouth, a gummy smile and a pebbled chin.

Results are seen around 2 weeks and treatment can last 3-4months depending on the individual.

The procedure is relatively pain free. No downtime is required. Side effects include some possible mild injection site bruising and swelling.
